The price of LED filament bulbs is too high
The materials of LED filament is very expensive and there is still some problems on the process yield, that’s why the cost of LED filament can’t reduce. Some Chinese lighting manufacturers do some research aiming at how to reduce material cost.
Besides, the high cost of labor and the low yield of the bulbs after assembling also the reasons that keep the price of LED filament bulbs high.
The Quality of LED filament bulbs
Heat dissipation problem is the most important problem of LED filament bulbs at present. It is very difficult to dissipate heat due to the shape of LED filament bulbs, therefore speed up the LED filament’s light decay and influence its life time. The most important issue of LED filament bulbs at present is how to improve the capability of heat dissipation.
Many Chinese lighting manufacturers lower the wattage of LED filament bulbs to reduce heat, as a result the relative brightness of LED filament bulbs was dropped. For the heat dissipation problem, it is extremely difficult to increase the wattage of LED filament bulbs. At present, the lumen of LED filament bulbs on the market is about 400lm, which is far from the lumen of main lighting LED global bulbs which is around 1000lm. So LED filament bulbs is mainly used as decorate lighting.
